Build note

Designing FlowDock around staying in flow

The first version was about moving text between devices. The more useful idea was reducing the friction of switching between phone, Mac, and Windows while keeping project context close.

FlowDock / Product design
  • FlowDock
  • product design
  • cross-device workflow

What I was building

I was building a private cross-device workflow system that connects an Android keyboard, Mac notch dropdown, and Windows utility through shared text sync.

Why it mattered

Switching between devices breaks focus when useful text, prompts, links, or project context are trapped on the wrong device.

What changed or broke

The idea became less about clipboard sync by itself and more about staying in flow across phone, Mac, and Windows.

What I learned

Small workflow tools need to feel fast, quiet, and useful. If the interface gets in the way, the tool creates the same friction it is meant to remove.

What I would improve next

I would keep polishing the Windows utility and Android keyboard, especially the autocorrect balance.
